Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine work stress among employees at the Batang Hari Regency Transportation Service Office, and to determine the influence of work stress and Emotional Intelligence in Improving Employee Performance at the Batang Hari-Jambi Regency Transportation Service Office. From the results of the research that has been carried out, it was found that the influence of the Job Stress variable on Employee Performance at the Batang Hari Regency Transportation Service Office is negative or has no effect. The results of the t test for the Work Stress variable obtained a calculated t of – 0.559, which is smaller than the t table of 1.99962 (-0.559 < 1.99962).  From the results of the research that has been carried out, it was found that the influence of the Emotional Intelligence variable on Employee Performance at the Batang Hari Regency Transportation Service Office is positive or influential. The t test results for the Emotional Intelligence variable have a calculated t value of 7.081 which is greater than the t table, namely 1.99962 (7.081 > 1.99962). For the F Test, the F hiung obtained is greater than the F table (25.070 > 3,15) which means that the Job Stress and Emotional Intelligence variables simultaneously influence the Employee Performance variable. In the Coefficient of Determination Test (), the influence of work stress and emotional intelligence in improving employee performance at the Batang Hari Regency Transportation Service was 42.9% while the remaining 57.1% was influenced by other factors outside this research.
